Get ready OKC! It is time to celebrate our high-school class of 2012! We are determined to make this a celebration that truly reflects how amazing our students are. This graduation party will be for those students who are graduating high school, and under the custodial care of the Oklahoma Department of Human Services this year.
54% of kids that are in foster care ever graduate High School and less than 2% go on to receive a college education. Most children have not only suffered the loss of their biological family, but in most cases, have had multiple placements, or moves with different case workers, foster parents and friendships along the way. Graduating High School under these extreme conditions is cause to celebrate! There are over 150 foster kids in Oklahoma County graduating this year and we would like to encourage them by celebrating their accomplishment!
