Over 40 grads attending! Donations & Door Prizes needed!

May is Foster Care Awareness month & we need your help!

Flux is coming and we are planning on having 4 times the grads in attendance this year from all over the state! Although this is a great problem to have, we need your help! We will be raising funds and accepting donations to provide;

T-shirts

food (for 300)

entertainment

gift bags to each graduate (approx. $100 value)

We are also requesting donations of new items to give to grads as door prizes such as;

Mountain Bikes

TVs

Computers, Laptops, etc

Ipods/MP3 players

MiniFridge

Microwave

Xbox/Wii

KindleFire/Nook

If you would like to donate a door prize item, you can drop it at Lewis RV during regular business hours!

With a $5 donation to OK Foster Wishes we would like to give you a OKFW Foster Care Awareness Wristband to wear during the month of May to bring awareness to the foster care crisis we currently face in our state. You can make your donations and receive a wristband at the upcoming Foster Care Awareness Walk, WalkAMileokc or anytime at Lewis RV, located at 1600 E. Reno, OKC (just down the street from Bass Pro Shop).

You can also help by collecting donations and distributing wristbands (quantities of 50 or more please). Email Lisa Feist at okfosterwishes@gmail.com .

LifeLaunch

Ever wish you could connect with a teen about to “age out” of foster care? We are looking for groups of 4-5 adults interested in meeting with a teen in foster care at least twice a month to share life experience and be a sounding board.
Please join us for a brief (10 minute) introduction session on becoming a LifeLaunch family group on April 17th at 6:30pm at the Spero Resource Center, 4646 NE Santa Fe, Oklahoma City.
If you are interested, stay for the training to begin at 7pm sharp!
All LifeLaunch families will be invited to celebrate with the foster grads at FLUX 2012!

FLUX 2012

Gearing up for FLUX 2012 and it’s going to be better than ever! Oklahoma has grown from serving 8046 (last year) to 8308 (this year) children in foster care. The need is greater than ever to support and celebrate these amazing individuals! 

Stay tuned for notes from the first planning meeting and dates to get approved to serve at FLUX!

Did you know that approximately 50% of kids in foster care ever graduate from high school and less than 2% go on to finish college or trade school. These kids have beaten the odds! They are over-comers!  We are proud to honor their accomplishment to better themselves!

WHERE?  Join us Tuesday May 17th @ 7pm at the Spero;Legacy Class to be held at LifeChurch.tv NW Campus (5821 NW Expressway, OKC) to learn how you can play a part in impacting a child in foster care.

HOW?  for a donation of $3 to OKFOSTERWISHES.COM you will receive our gift of a 1″ wristband to wear to help bring awareness to the Foster Care Issue in Oklahoma.
